The Fly Fishing Show 2023 - Pleasanton, California

This time on the Fly Fishing Tour, we’re in Pleasanton, California. There’s a lot to love about Pleasanton. Farmer’s markets. Beer gardens. Live music. John Madden. And, of course, this week, a convention full of fly-fishing enthusiasts looking to connect. We like to look at our custom wooden fly-fishing nets as art, and art is exactly what was on display on this stop. Not just the beautiful visual art created by people like Piper Nunn, but also an endless amount of literature, with fiction, non-fiction and even children’s books included, all about the wonderful sport of fly-fishing.

The cool, colorful California vibes were also on display with the various vendors of gear and apparel, with tie died caps and shirts. Speaking of color, there we even saw some very cool custom fly-fishing ties being made, with a young attendee helping come up with the color scheme. Lectures, stories, and music from Banjoist Dave Blackburn were abound on this stop to go along with everything else that’s to be expected.

The fly-fishing demos were also included again, with Fly-Fishing royalty like Mac Brown giving lessons to guests and passers-by alike. Another great addition to the tour were presentations from people like Mike, a military veteran helping other veterans find “hope and healing” through fly-fishing. The fly fishing nets, flies, and gear are all great, but it really is the individual people that make all the difference. Their stories, their values, and their strength all on display through their love of the sport.
